The Generation 1 Control Board is compatible with the light gray LiftMaster LA400 arm, see the blue control board visual below. This serves as a replacement board for all the boards within Generation 1, which were manufactured prior to July 2014. The Generation 1 Control Board is not compatible with MYQ technology and it does not have a digital display. Some key factors that identify Generation 1 Control Boards are that they have no display and are usually blue in color. Some versions may be red or green.

The Generation 2 Control Board was introduced July 2014. This board serves as a replacement for all boards in that generation. The Generation 2 Control Board is usually green with a digital display in the upper left quadrant and is compatible with the LiftMaster LA400 arm that is charcoal gray with a burgundy stripe.
If you are replacing a Generation 1 Control Board you will need to replace the whole control box, as well remotes and accessories.
This board has MyQ connectivity built in allowing you to monitor your opener right from your smart phone. You will need to purchase the 828LM Internet Gateway separately in order to use MyQ connectivity.
LiftMaster Control Board Generation 2
The Generation 3 Control Board was introduced in January 2016. This control board is burgundy and is compatible with the LiftMaster LA400 arm that is charcoal gray with a burgundy stripe. It has a two digit LED display with spots to plug in the arms. The Generation 3 Control Board is also MYQ compatible. It must have compatible photo eyes connected for this board to operate.
